i recently started talking to this mexican guy, and all my friends are freaking out because he's mexican.. i know it really doesn't matter what others think, but i don't want people to look at me and think that i'm trashy for it. i personally don't see anything wrong with it, he's just a different race. he is a really sweet guy and cares alot about me. what should i do?

Well Everytime I go to wal-mart or any store in Knoxville,Tn they always speaking spanish around me, Do they think I'm mexican to or they saying bad things about me. Do mexicans thinks Light skin blacks are mexican to. Like if someone who died an the police did not know the ethnic background then they say maybe he's light skin black or Mexican.
I not in there business or anything but it seems like when they around me they give me that look an strat speaking in spanish.

I like to listen to the npr programs but the npr station here in Albuquerque does not have too many and the ones they do have are not really the ones I would like to hear. They have programs like prairie home campanion and car talk.The rest of the program is mexican music.

I am as happy as can be right now! I had the biggest crush on this guy at my job! It turns out that he likes me too! However, there are two problems! Uno- he speaks spanish and very little English and I speak English and very little spanish! Dos- We work at the same job! Ok I'm confused on how some mexicans that dont speak spanish but can understand it. I see how mexicans can just not kno spanish my mom is samoan and doesnt know that language. but how can u understand a language u cant speak?

I have noticed, at least in the area I live in, that men (white men) seem almost unresponsive to white women now, but they love talking about asian or mexican women they see, I've even seen some interracial couples.

I no longer hear about a hot blonde woman, but rather some asian woman.

Why is this?

They speak spanish now, but what about before their language was wiped out? Or am I wrong?

I think Racism is too broad a word because it applies towards whole races ie black, white, asians etc. And I don't like the term xenophobia becase it sounds like a fear of culture. I'm only asking this because I think I was a victim of this. I went into a taco shop at 1 o clock in the afternoon and she told me they were closed which they clearly were not. (she was a non english speaking mexican and I'm an english speaking american)

My parents are from Guatemala and people in LA always assume that I am mexican. I'm sure If I moved to Miami I would be considered Cuban, and if I moved to New York I would be considered Puerto Rican.

I live in the Southwestern part of the USA. And have been told by Spanish speaking people that are natives of our state that they can't understand the Mexicans from Mexico. And same goes for Mexicans saying they don't understand Spanish.

It's true that the Spanish people whos families have 10 or more generations here do have very negitive attitudes about the people from South of the border. If one is called Mexican they are are very insulted.

Its very sad to see that "the-powers-that-be" dont want any one to see what is going on in Punta Colonet, Mexico approx. 50 miles south of Ensenada. I was able to see the area a while ago but now that is NOT possible. Its another shame on Google to do whatever the "powers-that-be" tell them to. Big Brother is alive and well!!
