I read a lot of anti-immigrant chatter here, but I notice that more and more Americans are using the same tonal "sentence end rise" typical of Mexican street Spanish. Calling it "Valley-speak" may fool some people, but discerning polyglots can spot it immediately. It is particularly prevalent in young people and I've detected it on both coasts. The only other instance of this type of intonation occurs in certain Irish populations, but that variation is developed locally, without outside influence..
Is this one a precursor of things to come, ese?

I'm sure it is not intentional. In that sense language is organic and it evolves.
The intonation I refer to is when the end of a sentence is said in a higher tone than the beginning. It's one of the characteristis of California "Valley talk." You can also hear it in 90% of teen movies.
Be the way, Spanish & English are 2 of my favorite languages, so I'm OK regardless of the outcome.

A popular Mexican seafood chain restaurant is being sued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.The EEOC said two former Ostioneria Michoacán #8 employees were unlawfully fired shortly after being hired.
"During the orientation, they were told they were being fired because they could not speak Spanish and their servers were required to speak Spanish," said Kathy Boutchee with the EEOC. "You can't use Spanish speaking for a requirement as a job unless there is a business necessity. A business necessity is not for the convenience of the employer."
The EEOC said that even though its a Mexican restaurant, located in a largely Hispanic area, the agency's investigation shows the majority of the restaurant's customers are not made up of only Spanish speakers. It said, therefore, speaking Spanish should not be a requirement to work at the restaurant.
The Michoacán Seafood Group's attorney said, "Michoacán is an equal-opportunity employer. The company strongly denies that it engaged in any discrimination. The two former employees in question were terminated for legitimate, business-related reasons. Michoacán will aggressively defend itself and fully expects to prevail in a court of law."

My mom is Hispanic my dad is Black. i grew up speaking spanish and I moved to california and this was a new experience for me beign around black people, and how california is alot faster than texas. would this describe my living and working in diverse settings. i have worked around many races, black, asian, mexican. i think all our cultures makes us unique in our own characteristics and our own way of doing things.
You get Mexicans who've been in the US for several generations, do they still speak Spanish? Many are in Mexico. People like Robert Rodriguez and Eva Longoria have roots in the US for ages, do they still speak Spanish??
Why do Mexicans not lose their language, while all the Germans, Irish, Italians etc cannot speak those languages in the US?
The interview process usually identifies the best qualified applicants for the job. How can a Mexican with no English language skills interview and qualify for a job over any American? What is the proceedure? Do they require the extra expense of hiring a translator or bi-lingual interviewer? How do they train?
They are the most embraced minority in America. We've made accommodations in almost all aspects of our culture to make the Mexican transition to America as comfortable as possible. In elementary schools, American children in many states are forced to take a basic introduction to Spanish. You can't purchase a product or call a business without having instructions written in Spanish or having an option to hear automated instructions in Spanish. Some states even allow illegal immigrants to enroll in colleges on scholarships. Nowhere else in the world can someone sneak into a country and be there against its laws and expect to have rights and protection under the law of that land.

At work they say things about me in Spanish, I know a little bit of Spanish and use it the best I can, but they make sexual jokes about me (they do it in english too), so I need to know exactly what they are saying.
