When I hear Mexican immigrants speaking English, half the time they sound super sexy like Salma Hayek and have that really soothing voice, and half the time they talk through their nose and every word sounds flat.

Is it because these people are from two very different parts of Mexico?

I already know the basics nd a lil more cuz I'm Hispanic nd un Spanish one in highschool but I just got a job al el rancho a Mexican supermarket and I need to be able to speak fluent. if I teach myself how do I do it? Luke start with vocabulary. but I just don't know hour put the sentences together and I need a lot of practice. help please!

How do you say any (or all) of the following in a language you speak fluently? (Mexican Spanish preferred but not necessary) Be sure to tell me what language it is and what it translates into if it isn't in Spanish. 10 Points for best answer!!! Thanks! (quotes are below)

I miss her already

Cus im Tryna put a korean URL for tumbler and for my new email, and like i dont know much korean, and im half korean, mexican and my dad isnt here so i can ask, Can Yuh Help Me(: ? Or tell me what cute words can i put?

What's with all the they don't want to assimilate scare tactics. Its just like in the 1920's you would visit a town and everyone would speak Italian but after time they spoke English. Hell I know a few Polish, Italian, & Chinese ppl that are in their 3-4th generation and they still don't speak english, but you only hear about Latinos not learning English. Heck there is China-Town here in Chicago and everything is in Chinese. I find it fascinating and have no problem with it. There are also Polish comminities with huge Polish flags in their front yards and no one complains. But you go to Little Village (ranked 2nd neighborhood in Chicago in Sales Tax revenue next to the Magnificent Mile in Downtown) and everyone is up in arms. Ohh why is there Mexican flag? Why do they speak Spanish?

So I'm just really annoyed because my cousin and i are really close but im more of a brown color and she is pretty fair. When we tell ppl that we are cousins they don't believe us because im brown and she
is lighter skin color than me. They say she is not mexican because "she is white and doesn't speak spanish". I tell them im mexican and i can't speak spanish either, they say "but your brown".
It's not like she is mixed both her parents are mexican, her mom is as dark as me and her dad is light skinned but still mexican. She just came out light like her dad, we can not
control genetics.
I try to tell ppl that you do not have to be brown or be able to speak spanish in
order to be mexican but they just ignore my comments.
It just gets irritating and annoying for both of us, guess that
people think if your not brown or speak spanish then you are not mexican.
Oh well, guess we well just have to get use to it.

Who else feels the same way i do when i say i'm sick and tired about all the bad talk about "Anchor Babies" should be stripped of citizen ship and how Mexican's will burn in Hell? All those lame jokes. People say "I'm not against the Latino's only illegal one's". Do you agree with that or do you think it's a bunch of racist bull and their trying to cover it up?
For all you know it all's i'm an US citizen born and raised both my parents are white. I do know what the word illegal means, my husband was born in Mexico!

I am Mexican-American and I know both Spanish and English fluently.
I am going towards medicine and would ike to learn another language.
I have been considering these three: Italian, Portuguese, French
I do not know which one to choose.
Portuguese is most similar to Spanish in lexico but Italian is similar in pronunciation.
French is most known but more difficult.
I am stuck in a dilemma, pllease help! I will give lots of points to anyone that can help me.

Are there still Mexicans who speak the native Aztec Language?

Like there is Castillan Spanish and Mexican Spanish. Which one do you learn in high school?

I'm writing a poem about salsa for english class, and I'm trying to write a line about smelling the spices from the kitchen, because we need to use the 5 senses in it. what are some mexican spices that are associated with salsa? even ones that are in tacos or nachos would be fine.

answer quick!!! the poem is due TOMORROW!!!!!

I'm not Mexican but I want to have a Mexican baby. There are like 5 Mexican babies at my church at home and they're sooo freaking cute. I totally want one for myself.

The mexicans I've met are hard-working and have great work ethics, They try to get by with what little they have and don't bother anyone.
They have great courage to drop their lives in Mexico and come to a racist country which hardly respects, a country whose language they haven't mastered.
If the shoe were on the other foot, I would be scared and wouldn't leave my native country at all.
Not all the Mexicans I've met are illegal, so why do Americans stereotype so much?

Are ppl just being racist when they berate Mexican immigrants?

Does "¿Qué pasó?" only belong to Mexican Spanish. In Mexican Spanish, "¿Qué pasó?" means "What have you been up to ? " when greeting someone
What about Spaniards, Argentine , Costa Rica? They say something else instead of "¿Qué pasó?"True or False?

Need to have this translated please. Im looking for someone who is fluent in writing it and speaking it, and not from a online translator.
Thank you for your help.

Why do you want to know if Im happy?
Now its my turn to ask you what you think of me, and be honest.
It is easy to talk to you, I cant explain why. It is what it is.
Why do you think its easy for me to talk to you?

I want a website that can help me learn how to cook REAL Mexican food. Like Pesole, flan, menudo...Some really good recipes. I'm trying to help my disabled friend enjoy the foods she grew up loving and I've never cooked these foods before. Thank you in advance for your help:)

what are the basics of analyzing facts to prove a thesis?

if i'm writing a research paper about mexico, and my thesis is that contact with spain yielded a negative out come. My reasons to prove this are that

1. spain enslaved millions of mexicans
2. spain entered war with mexico
3. spain broke up the peace between the tribes
4. spain brought disease to mexico, and the natives had no resistance to it
5. after counquering mexico, mexico was only allowed to rade with spain
6. mexicans were originally discriminated against, and could not improve their lives easily
(i just made these facts up, but they're true)
how could i analyze these facts? what are some things that i could try when i'm analyzing?
how would you analyze these facts?

how else could you connect them to the thesis?

are the basics just stating why, and how? how can you further analyze these things, giving deeper reasons then just why, and how.

In some businesses I've been to in the United States that advertise themselves as having bilingual staff, I've noticed that most of the workers are Mexicans who yes, speak Spanish very well, but their English is horrible. I'm not trying to make fun of them for their English, but seriously, it seems like bilingual these days means "Spanish required, English optional". I myself speak Spanish way better than some of these people speak English, and yet I doubt I would ever be taken seriously trying to get a bilingual job in California because they can always just go hire a Mexican who speaks Spanish better than me, but who speaks English far worse than me. I just can't understand why there is so much emphasis on Spanish skills but almost none on English. And as a side question, why does it seem like the majority of Chicanos I've met are so arrogant about knowing both languages from birth? I even had one insisting that I'm not a true bilingual because I didn't learn Spanish from birth.
Not one of you understood my question. My question is why do EMPLOYERS care so much about Spanish proficiency but almost nothing about their English proficiency. My question had nothing to do with immigrants refusing to learn English. My question is, why is it that someone who speaks Spanish at a 100% level but English at only a 25% level is hired over someone who speaks English at a 100% level and Spanish at a 75% level. It seems like to be considered "bilingual" you really just have to speak Spanish only, as long as you can get by in English you're bilingual, but if you speak English natively, you have to speak Spanish very well or else you're not bilingual. That was my question: why when it comes to being judged as a bilingual or not, native English speakers have to speak Spanish a lot better than native Spanish speakers have to speak English.

I'm writing a paper for my History of Mexico class, and I need to find some info regarding successful Mexican-Americans. Are there any sites out there that can help me with this?

I know a bit of Spanish, I understand Mexicans perfectly but when I meet people from The countries I mention, it impossible for me to understand them unless they speak it slowly. Why is that Mexican Spanish is more understandable?

>Don't say,"learn to speak spanish"because I don't want to wait months or years until I become fluent enough to carry on a conversation.I'm learning slowly but from a friend not a class.
marshfield_meme,I think you should take a look at your Answers profile and then look up the meaning of hypocrite.

why is it that the US is putting the wall but their not.. i hate how both of the pres candidates talk about making this nation more spanish literate... why cant they just stay on their own poor damn country.. why cant the us gov just let the mexican gov fix their own damn problem so we can focus on our own...

Spaniards look like Italians...why do they think they are white?

Italy + Spain = Mexico

By the way, our flag is the original one!! Mexico first became a country in 1828 and Italy was not yet a country till 1861.

I would learn Spanish if I went to Mexico, so what's wrong with them? We even offer free classes and they don't bother. So we have to put everything in Spanish.

Hello! I'm trying to select a shipping address in Amazon.com. I know they ship to Mexico, but I just can't put a correct address!

This is an example of my address in Mexico:

Calle (Street): Israel
Numero (Number): 123
Colonia (Neighborhood): Andreas
Ciudad (City): Mexico
Estado (State): Distrito Federal
Codigo Postal (Postal Code): 02090
Pais (Country): Mexico

But I can't put it right in Amazon.com! Does someone know how to enter an address like that in Amazon? Help please!!

They only give me this (how the heck do I put the data in the right order?!):

Address Line2: (Apartment, suite, unit, building, floor, etc.)
City:
State/Province/Region:
ZIP/Postal Code:
