why can't i and other Americans speak out aginst the rising problem of illegals invading this country, If we do were branded racist.. Well i have a few friends who are mexican who came here Legally and they speak out even louder then i do about illegals! why arnt they branded racist?

ok so i was born in mexico but was raised in the usa since i was a baby so i dont know anything about mexico like its history traditions etc.... and i really want to learn about where i came from or off my country you know but i don't know where to start from is there a book out there or what. that can teach me about mexico's history . cause all i know is about USA's history which is alright of course. i am married to a american guy an i have a fear that when we decide to have children i wont be able to teach them about their Mexican heritage they will only know the american one. for example i have a aunt who also married an american guy and has 4 children that don't even know how to speak Spanish at all because my aunt never taught them how too she never taught them about mexico or traditional dishes from mexico, nothing. even my aunt forgot she was Mexican she doesn't know how to cook Mexican food and is always calling my mom to tell help her out. my aunt acts like shes more american than Mexican you know and i don't want that to be me. i want that when i ever take my children to mexico that they can be able to communicate with the family down there and that they know that there not only american but Mexican as well an that they know the history of mexico its traditions and everything. so basically what is a good website or book or something that is going to help me discover about my Mexican heritage.
i wasnt sure what category so i just posted it on this one. also if ur a racist asshole this is not for u too read to move along

its for my spanish class and i really need help on this. please and thanks you(:

I am a Mexican, trying to learn Japanese. I have been studying for the past 5 or 6 months now. I know and understand a lot. I understand the basic gist of the video, but I still have trouble forming my sentences. I find the Japanese pronounciation very easy, but I am wondering if spanish speaking people have a noticeable accent when speaking Japanese. (Japanese people have a bit of an accent when speaking spanish btw, especially that they mix the l's and r's and stress some words incorrectly.)

I cant help but stress my words incorrectly sometimes like when i speak spanish. i also roll my r's to much. i didnt know quite how to phrase this question, but just what would i sound like with a light spanish accent? is it exotic, or difficult to understand? what connotations come with it, if that makes sense. what would you think if you heard me speak japanese?

This is a Mexican speaking Japanese, doing a speech presentation in a class in Japan. (He is a bit more fluent than me though)

If a Japanese language speaker were to hear him, what part would they think he is from? Osaka, Tokyo, Okinawa, Kyoto?

Today, a large pickup truck pulls up in my backyard and five Mexicans jump out of the truck with machetes and tank sprayers. I go outside and ask, “What’s up”. They just look at me, and one of them says something in Spanish.

Well there’s a Wisteria vine on my power pole, which I had planted a few years ago and an Elm tree nearby. This guy starts to whack on the vine with a machete, and another heads for my Elm tree and I yell at them. Then a sixth guy comes out of the drivers seat, says something and the whacking stops.

The driver walks over to me and he could barely speak any English. But he said he was working for the power company and he’s supposed to cut everything you know?

I said “ No, I don’t know, where’s your papers?” He says he doesn’t know. So’ I told him to get the hell off my property.

Later on, different truck pulls up and at least this Mexican can speak some decent English. He say’s, their supposed to trim the trees and brush along the power line. There are no markings on any of these vehicles and he doesn’t have any work orders either.

So, I tell him to shove off, he says I got to let him do it. I tell him call the cops, as he doesn’t have any work orders. Well, he left and it’s been 4 hours, no cops and no paper work.

Would you have done the same thing?
To those emailing me that I’m a racist. My current wife is part Algonquin Indian, the first wife was one quarter black (she died), and my son in law is Mexican. I have a foster brother that came from South Korea and my various in-laws are Mexican, African, and Iranian. So, you don’t know me, please, don’t make jackass assumptions, that I’m racist.

These guys had no ID’s and they were hacking plants that didn’t require trimming.

I'm a big fan of regional mexican music and well being hispanic is one of the reasons why. Anyways, I have always wanted to learn to play the accordion and have been saving money to buy one and learn how to play it. I'm 21 and I should of started when I was younger, but I still have the desire to learn to play the accordion. Does anyone know where I can learn to play it? What kind of accordion is the best for a beginner?

I just moved to a new school in early may
And at this school no girls tend to even look at me
at my old school every girl loved me or crushed on me
I dont get it
is it because i barely talked and i let the black and Mexican kids tease me is that why???
i feel like i got ugly all of a sudden??

Is a letter V in Spanish always pronounced as a "bee" sound, or is it pronounced as a "vee" in certain cases? I am trying to improve my Spanish talking with a friend at work in Spanish (he is also good at speakin English and I help him get better with English like he helps me with Spanish) and he cannot tell the difference between a b and a v sound. He is aware that they are 2 different letters but he calls them both "b". He is Mexican and he says there is never a vee sound in Spanish but I have heard otherwise from people that have learned "Spain Spanish"

I'm writing a script and i need the most boring and bland mexican surnames.
thanks.

I had noticed Mexicans in Texas are shy to speak Spanish and Mexicans in California are proud to speak Spanish.

I heard schools in Texas forbid students to speak Spanish!
Why!!????

Please help my mom needs a job

Let's say I had a baby. If I were to put headphones on the baby and play Mexican music all day and let it watch Mexican movies while it's not listening to the music, could the baby learn how to speak Spanish and start speaking to me in Spanish?

I am asking because I am writing a short story and in one part of it, this Mexican mother is soothing her child and is being sweet to him and speaking to him in Spanish.

Please, MATURE answers preferred that happen to deal with the question! Thank you!

They really don't, and it doesn't help that America has mcdonlad billboards in Spanish now.

I'm wanting to teach my 7 month old daughter some American sign language so it will be a little easier to communicate with her. I know it's a little late, but better late than never, right? What I was wondering, was if there's a difference in American sign language and Mexican sign language since I was wanting to start teaching her that too. I've already been speaking phrases to her in spanish, so is there a big difference or is it the same gestures in a different order, like how you would speak spanish?

If mexico is so great why are you here. go back to it.

I work at a local electronics store and a man comes up and started talking to me in Spanish like i should know the hell he's talking about!! Then we got a translator and he says that I am the one who need to learn to speak Spanish. Shouldn't he be the one who needs to learn English?!?!?! This kind of stuff is getting on my nerves more and more all the time. We are letting these people into our Country, yet they refuse to learn our language..

I am Half mexican, half white. I dont speak spanish, I am white, but I have hispanic eyes(deep brown and long, thick eyelashes). I have always been really attracted mexican guys., are mexican guys interested in woman like me?
I'm not like white-trash white...I love the mexican culture and I do know some spanish. I just don't speak spanish fluently, but that probably doesn't make a difference.

"Atole recipe, common beverage native to Mexican regions that is served hot or at room temperature."

Atole is something my mom always makes, its like a pourage or something. anyway. She wanted to teach me how to do it and i said, okay :-) So we started doing it and when it was all ready we began to boil the milk...And i mixed and mixed for like 45 minutes. atole only takes 10 minutes to mix.... and as you know Atole is saposed to turn thick while you mix it in the boiling pot. but the one i was making was thinner than water. so my mom got P.O'd and said "oh my gawsh! get away! go over to the living room!" and i said
"why? what did i do?!?!"
she said:
"your staring at it! if you stare at it while you mix it in too hard it will not get thick"
and so now im here puzzled. i have no idea what my mom was talking about but im pretty sure it was some kind of superstition.

I heard Obama is a Muslim and that means he is not from America? If he is a Muslim what country is he from and can he still be the president of america. I heard in church that he might be a terrorist from Iraq where we are having a war for christ our sawvior and redeemer. Is Obama like pontios pilot? Can Christians get reparations because of all the wellfare checks we are giving to muslims and they come from mexico and have babies and make regular people speak mexican american?

Both of my parents are Nigerians and they both speak Igbo. However, none of my siblings including myself can speak it. I used to speak a little bit but i was really young. However I can COMPLETELY understand it, I just can't speak it. My parents are always talking about how they see Asian, Indian, and Mexican kids speaking their language but we can't. I feel really ashamed because I have both parents that speak the language. I am 15 years old and would like to speak fluently before i get too old or leave home. any advice?

Guess what, we are here for opportunity. My people will learn eventually. My parents learned in time when they came to the U.S and they are now succesfull.

There are other spanish speaking Latinos to worry about. Also, check out the Spaniards. They're white and they speak Spanish. In fact, because of their conquests years ago in Latin America, Mexicans speak spanish because their ancestors were forced to learn by the Spaniards. The Spaniards were the first Spanish speakers just like the British were the first English speakers.

By the way, I'm not racist. In fact, I hope to visit Spain someday as well as Japan.

Also, not all Mexicans are brown. I'm white skinned. A lot of people have thought that I'm not Mexican until I start talking like one.

By the way, I learned in James Clavell's Shogun that language is the key to survival in any country.

By the way, I was born an American citizen thus making me Mexican-American. I'm not an immigrant. My parents have been American citizens for 4 or 5 years now. I helped them study for their exams. :)

Like we have 1 cent is a penny, 5 cents is a nickel, 10 cents is a dime etc.
Do they have 100 cents is 1 dollar, do they have 5.00 and 10.00 and 20.00 like we do. And how do I covert so I understand what each money is?? Any suggestions on how to learn about mexican money? Explain like you are talking to a first grader. This all seems so confusing.

My friend was born in Germany but moved to Mexico when she was young, and speaks both German, Mexican, and English. Her family moved to Canada when she was finished school. I was talking to her recently and she did not know who Hitler was, and had never heard of the Holocaust. I am wondering if this is because she went to school in Mexico, and the school systems are poor and she only finished up to Junior High, or if this has something to do with the fact that she is strictly Christian/Mennonite.

i know English, and Spanish and am currently learning German. but i cant seem to make it stick. some words r easy but others i keep getting confused with my spanish (even though i know little of and have a huge american accent! and even though im mexican! lol )

so i was wondering, does anyone else ever have this problem when learning a 3rd language?
