  1. Take 1 cup of rice and rinse in cold water to remove some of the starch- this will prevent it from becoming sticky. Chop a small onion and press 2 cloves of garlic and set aside. Heat some oil in a pan and add rice , toast until lightly browned. Add onions and garlic and stir together until fragrant. Add 1 small can of tomato sauce and 1 1/2 cups of water to the rice and bring to a boil. Once boiling, stir once and cover the pan. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for about 20 mins. Remove from heat and let sit for a few mins. Fluff with a fork and enjoy.

  2. You get some normal uncooked rice and fry it with a bit of veggy oil. After a few minutes, add tomato paste, water, and some of that chicken broth powder. Let it boil WITHOUT stirring too frequently, or else it wont abosorb the liquid properly. Thats the way my mom makes it…if you wanna get really beaner on it, you can try adding different spices and finely chopped peppers

  3. Sometimes going to the obvious site is a good place to start – for Mexican, try Old El Paso, They might be more Tex Mex than true Mexican, but the recipes are reliable and adaptable
