I am a Third Generation Mexican American and although some people in my family speak Spanish as in my relatives and grandparents, I speak English and I consider myself american but why is it that people say I am not an american and a Mexican even though I was born in the United States and I am a legal citizen. Also, I would like to know your opinions. Am I American Or Mexican?

I know it's very difficult for an immigrant to live in Mexico - they cannot get any welfare even after become a citizen, they must speak Spanish fluently, there is no bi-lingual education provided and only professionals (no labor workers) can apply for citizenship and they can't buy properties in good areas such as near the ocean. So if someone were found to live in Mexico without having qualified for all of the above and gotten a citizenship, what would the Mexican gov do to them?

1)Many Puerto Ricans Speak English and Spanish, They choose to speak in Spanish because that is their niche. If they spoke in English they would be considered another rap group or a sellout.
2)Geographically, Puerto Rico is alot closer to the U.S. than Mexico. Thus, there is a higher probability they will be influenced by the U.S.
3)Reggaeton sounds alot closer to American rap music than Mexican music.
4)Daddy Yankee has a house in Miami, Florida. I seriously doubt he has one in Mexico.
5)Puerto Ricans can come and go to the United States without any problems. Furthermore, a U.S. citizen can travel to Puerto Rico without a passport
6)If the U.S. adds a 51st state, Puerto Rico would be on top of the list to qualify.
7)Puerto Rico is still considered a U.S. territory, just like old places in the west before they became states.
8)The national sport of Puerto Rico is baseball. In the United States, baseball is one of the major sports. In Mexico, soccer (futbol) is the main sport.

Should Mexican people have to learn the English Language?
Are you all tired of this English as a SECOND language, in schools?
Should mexicans have to speak English to get a drivers license, public aid, food stamps, wick program, public aid, etc.
Many, many good points by all. A lot of thinking was going on.
Bye Busterd no more Yahoo account.
Blueberrymuffyn you are not even a citizen of the USA and speak out about your "free education and phony IDs"
and how you "took the US taxpayer"
Dont answer questions that real people put thought into. Your thought is how can I skate on others money.
Noel I am not referring to Hispanics, or cant you read English. I am referring specifically to Mexican people who only speak Spanish. You say they have no time to learn the English Language, but complain about poor wages, high crime rates, and gangs? You will never be a success outside your own neighborhood, if like most people you dont have time to go to college, and learn the US language. After all dont every one of us have little free time?
MAKE IT!

I am mexicano, I apologize for my broken Inglish and misspelled words,
My first language is Spanish and I am an undocumented Immigrant who would like to become citizen of both countries.
