I grew up speaking mexican spanish in my home. Spanish was mandatory starting in middle school. I thought "oh this will be easy" but when I got to class I was really confused. Senora Anderson used words such as"vosotros, coche(and other vocab.) etc" that I've never heard of. When my papi corrected my homework I half of it wrong.
I understand that she uses some words from spain and others from latin America. She also tells me that I'm being rude and disrespectful because I'm not using formal spanish when talking to an adult. But this was my godparent and we are close thus not using formal language. I get confused especially when she randomly decides to use spanish over mexican vocabulary.
Do other Mexicans who take spanish have this issue or is it just me? I'm really upset with my grade and how the teacher is always telling me I'm wrong when I'm trying my best.
I found out before the first week ended it wouldn't be easy. I started trying as hard as I did in other classes. We don't just speak slang and use poor grammar at home. There is times where I need to speak proper spanish. That is a common misconception. Not all mexicans are lazy and in ELL.
I'm not trying to complain. I'm asking for advice at getting a better grade in this class. After one failed assignment I learned not to ask my dad for help.

Cus im Tryna put a korean URL for tumbler and for my new email, and like i dont know much korean, and im half korean, mexican and my dad isnt here so i can ask, Can Yuh Help Me(: ? Or tell me what cute words can i put?
So I'm just really annoyed because my cousin and i are really close but im more of a brown color and she is pretty fair. When we tell ppl that we are cousins they don't believe us because im brown and she
is lighter skin color than me. They say she is not mexican because "she is white and doesn't speak spanish". I tell them im mexican and i can't speak spanish either, they say "but your brown".
It's not like she is mixed both her parents are mexican, her mom is as dark as me and her dad is light skinned but still mexican. She just came out light like her dad, we can not
control genetics.
I try to tell ppl that you do not have to be brown or be able to speak spanish in
order to be mexican but they just ignore my comments.
It just gets irritating and annoying for both of us, guess that
people think if your not brown or speak spanish then you are not mexican.
Oh well, guess we well just have to get use to it.
Do people who live along the coast in Mexico have a lot of the same mannerisms of Californians above them? It would be so hot to meet a Spanish speaking Mexican guy who surfs. None of the Mexicans I know right now in Cali do that. I want to meet a guy who surfs for some reason because it reminds me of my dad and I always grew up at the beach watching my dad surfing.
Ok im mixed moms Mexican and dad American. I speak a little and understand everything prefect but when i was younger my dad told my mom to stop speaking spanish to us. It was sad
But when i go to Mexico people look at me badly because i dont speak Spanish and im Mexican
What do you think?
We're Mexican-American, but we speak TOTAL English at home. Only time we speak Spanish is when our dad is pissed and is lecturing us. So if we hear someone yelling like a guy from a Spanish soap opera, it only means one thing. We're in trouble.
And we (the kids) can understand Spanish, but we can't speak it. Talk to us in Spanish and we respond in English.
My Dad told me and my brothers to talk English to people from Mexico in Restaurants or stores, im a 21 year old Mexican-American in San Antonio Texas, My family says if they speak spanish to you , speak in English to them, they tell me this isnt a foreign country,
ok so every where people always say you look mexican are you and do you speak spainsh it gets anoying

I am 75% mexican although I consider myself full...My mother is half mexican an half white she does not speak spanish (That's the reason why) My dad's family all speaks spanish (I don't live with him) And my grandma (Mom's side) Speaks spanish...But I have a white accent but I can understand some words..My boyfriend speaks Spanish and so does his family. None of them really speak english good except his brother and sisters and himself. I really wanna learn so I can speak with my other family members and his family...Spanish seems very hard for me I feel stupid when I try to speak it. Please help?? I'm Hispanic and white so don't think I’m being racist. I just don't get how some Latin American people talk with a heavy accent and they don't even speak Spanish. Is this some kind of trend? I know plenty of people like this. I don't know maybe I don't do this because my dad is not Mexican he is from Guatemala and I guess the way they sound is different i.e. like USA English to United Kingdom English
Whats the name of that Fat Mexican Comedian that talks about his dad saying shicken instead of chicken and choes instead of shoes???
