I'm writing persuasive essay on immigration. Do you think its a good idea to have an open door policy where there is no borders and hundreds of lives are saved...on the US-Mexican border. What are the pros and cons of this? Please be honest and detailed (with statistics IF possible) thank you so much

I live within 1000 yds. of the mexican border and I can tell you its is not guarded I have at least 100 illegals a wk. come to my house and ask for water and they are not the least bit afraid of being caught. They have been told by others how big a joke our border is and they even have a sense of arrogance about them when they talk about our border they actually think mexico still owns this land.

I used to go to Tijuana, Mexicali and Tecate for nice food, and a relaxing experience looking around and meeting people. It has been nearly 20 years since I did this. Times have changed. I would like to visit some Mexican border towns once again, but would like to return in one piece without shootings, police extortion and the like. Any ideas? Current information, please... I speak good Spanish, and would like to hear from YOU!

When Conservatives keep talking about protecting the border and keeping illegal aliens out, why is so much of it disproportionately targeted at the Mexican border or the water routes from Cuba and hispanic countries and hardly ever concerned about them coming in from Canada or white European countries?

The tv show Border Wars only shows the bad things happening at the Mexico border. And when people talk about building the wall, its referred to a wall on the border with Mexico but not Canada.

Whats your thoughts on this?

Our existing laws seem to work well except for the Mexican border, so why talk about new "comprehensive" immigration laws?

4 days is not enough time to organize that kind of response, but the fact there is talk of this idea indicates........(complete sentence here).

I think most people know illegals come from many countries. It's also true that most illegals (including some who are not Mexican) come across the Mexican border.

I am an old rancher on the Mexican border. My family has ranched here since 1908. I've been looking at some of these answers. 99% of these people don't have any idea what they are talking about.

These mexicans have changed. 50 years ago, they were all good people and I liked them. They lived with us and taught me spanish and many good ways and customs. They and us depended on each other and I made good friends with many of them. They worked hard and never stole from us. All of my good old mexican friends are dead now. I miss them.

Now, they are bad. I wouldn't give a nickel to any of them now. I don't know what happened. They are mean and bad. About 10 to 15 years ago they started stealing from us and got mean and don't want to be friendly any more.

Do you really know the new immigrants?
