I grew up speaking mexican spanish in my home. Spanish was mandatory starting in middle school. I thought "oh this will be easy" but when I got to class I was really confused. Senora Anderson used words such as"vosotros, coche(and other vocab.) etc" that I've never heard of. When my papi corrected my homework I half of it wrong.

I understand that she uses some words from spain and others from latin America. She also tells me that I'm being rude and disrespectful because I'm not using formal spanish when talking to an adult. But this was my godparent and we are close thus not using formal language. I get confused especially when she randomly decides to use spanish over mexican vocabulary.

Do other Mexicans who take spanish have this issue or is it just me? I'm really upset with my grade and how the teacher is always telling me I'm wrong when I'm trying my best.
I found out before the first week ended it wouldn't be easy. I started trying as hard as I did in other classes. We don't just speak slang and use poor grammar at home. There is times where I need to speak proper spanish. That is a common misconception. Not all mexicans are lazy and in ELL.

I'm not trying to complain. I'm asking for advice at getting a better grade in this class. After one failed assignment I learned not to ask my dad for help.

Like there is Castillan Spanish and Mexican Spanish. Which one do you learn in high school?

Does "¿Qué pasó?" only belong to Mexican Spanish. In Mexican Spanish, "¿Qué pasó?" means "What have you been up to ? " when greeting someone
What about Spaniards, Argentine , Costa Rica? They say something else instead of "¿Qué pasó?"True or False?

I know a bit of Spanish, I understand Mexicans perfectly but when I meet people from The countries I mention, it impossible for me to understand them unless they speak it slowly. Why is that Mexican Spanish is more understandable?

I always wonder if it's hard to learn mexican spanish because people told me it is hard and other people said it is easy. I look it up before and the results say spanish is easier than english but for an american who already knows english is it hard for them to learn spanish?

It seems like all you cowards disagree with me. I am fluent in 4 languages and I can acertain that what I say is true. Maybe I was wrong by saying better, but it sure does sound more understandable.

And to the guy that said colombians speak beautiful Spanish, they dont, I personally think it sounds awful because of their intonations. I mean to say that American English is just more clear, and so is Mexican Spanish.

Whenever I hear that accent (Castillian I think it's called), I can't help but think that the Spanish are fruitbags. They sound queer, don't they? Whereas, Mexican Spanish sounds masculine and it's often evenly paced. Do Mexicans think lowly of the Spanish because of their gay accent? And do you think it's justifiable to say that Spanish no longer belongs to the Spanish if it sounds so corrupt and wacky like how they pronounce it?

Please, not Spain or Mexican Spanish used by most online translation sites.

There is a Mexican girl in my class and we got into an argument about variants of the Spanish language. She says that Mexican Spanish isn't Spanish and that if a Mexican goes to Spain that the Spaniard and the Mexican won't understand each other. I understand that pronunciation is a little bit different, and I also know that Mexican Spanish has indigenous pre-Spanish Mexican words added to it, but I know it's not a completely different language.

I was wondering if I should learn mexican spanish r french, becuase all of my friend speek at least 2 language and I want to to. thank you for al ur answers :)

I've been seeing a man off and on that speaks mexican-spanish. What does it mean when he says see you so soon. I haven"t seen him for a couple of weeks and saw him yesterday at his business.

mexican spanish
spanish(spain)
columbian spanish
cuban spanish
argentinian spanish

I heard that Mexican Spanish is different from the original Spanish Language in Spain. In what way?

i already know beginner mexican spanish, but i have been told that south american spanish is way harder to learn and understand. is this true? will i have a hard time if i go to argentina? if i learn spanish in argentina, will it be a piece of cake for me to talk in mexico?

Whenever I hear Lionel Messi talk, I cannot understand him. I speak Mexican Spanish and I can, at times, pick up some words and phrases. However, I don't know if it's because Catalan sounds similar to Spanish or if he IS actually speaking Spanish.

I'm totally white but I can speak spanish better than anyone (except the mexicans) in my high school spanish class, but my teacher teaches mexican spanish, so my accent is horribly mexican sounding (and american too of course). I want to sound like I'm from Spain or Argentina.

I play futbol with tons of mexican spanish speaking friendsso I need to learn a few more phrases.

Pass me the ball
cross it
back pass
watch it
center it
right side
left side

if you could post more too that would help. Thank you!?

hello, i am writing my email to my mexican gf and i just want to know how to write this:
i will love forever itzel, and nothing in the world will make me stop

thank you!
need mexican spanish thank you
thanks guys!

I have different Latino friends, and they said how Mexican Spanish is more "proper" since it sounds slower. Cindy, one of my Mexican friends, said that Mexican Spanish is similar to the way British people speak English (since it sounds more proper) than American English...if that's makes any sense. My Puerto Rican friend Julisa and my Dominican friend Gisella said how Dominican and Puerto Rican Spanish are spoken a lot faster with more slang. Is that true?

I know Spanish, fluent, but I learned Mexican Spanish. And the regions where my parents are from, the voseo form is not used. I could bump up my grade in my Spanish class if I learned it. Does anybody have any idea on how to incorporate the voseo into my Spanish?

Hello everybody!

I ask you because I know in other countries they learn spanish spanish.

Well, I know spanish is the language more studied in USA, after english of course! but I don't know if you learn spanish Spanish or spanish Mexican, in Mexico, we learn American English, because is the closest and important. I know may be Mexican spanish is not so important but:

Do you learn Mexican spanish?

Thank you very much.!
