ok so i was born in mexico but was raised in the usa since i was a baby so i dont know anything about mexico like its history traditions etc.... and i really want to learn about where i came from or off my country you know but i don't know where to start from is there a book out there or what. that can teach me about mexico's history . cause all i know is about USA's history which is alright of course. i am married to a american guy an i have a fear that when we decide to have children i wont be able to teach them about their Mexican heritage they will only know the american one. for example i have a aunt who also married an american guy and has 4 children that don't even know how to speak Spanish at all because my aunt never taught them how too she never taught them about mexico or traditional dishes from mexico, nothing. even my aunt forgot she was Mexican she doesn't know how to cook Mexican food and is always calling my mom to tell help her out. my aunt acts like shes more american than Mexican you know and i don't want that to be me. i want that when i ever take my children to mexico that they can be able to communicate with the family down there and that they know that there not only american but Mexican as well an that they know the history of mexico its traditions and everything. so basically what is a good website or book or something that is going to help me discover about my Mexican heritage.
i wasnt sure what category so i just posted it on this one. also if ur a racist asshole this is not for u too read to move along
Please help my mom needs a job
"Atole recipe, common beverage native to Mexican regions that is served hot or at room temperature."
Atole is something my mom always makes, its like a pourage or something. anyway. She wanted to teach me how to do it and i said, okay
So we started doing it and when it was all ready we began to boil the milk...And i mixed and mixed for like 45 minutes. atole only takes 10 minutes to mix.... and as you know Atole is saposed to turn thick while you mix it in the boiling pot. but the one i was making was thinner than water. so my mom got P.O'd and said "oh my gawsh! get away! go over to the living room!" and i said
"why? what did i do?!?!"
she said:
"your staring at it! if you stare at it while you mix it in too hard it will not get thick"
and so now im here puzzled. i have no idea what my mom was talking about but im pretty sure it was some kind of superstition.
I'm asking this because I told my mom that I had a very hairy Chest and she said its normal for us Mexicans to have hairy chest!
Is this true? And do White guys find this attractive/Hot?
Thanks.
So I'm just really annoyed because my cousin and i are really close but im more of a brown color and she is pretty fair. When we tell ppl that we are cousins they don't believe us because im brown and she
is lighter skin color than me. They say she is not mexican because "she is white and doesn't speak spanish". I tell them im mexican and i can't speak spanish either, they say "but your brown".
It's not like she is mixed both her parents are mexican, her mom is as dark as me and her dad is light skinned but still mexican. She just came out light like her dad, we can not
control genetics.
I try to tell ppl that you do not have to be brown or be able to speak spanish in
order to be mexican but they just ignore my comments.
It just gets irritating and annoying for both of us, guess that
people think if your not brown or speak spanish then you are not mexican.
Oh well, guess we well just have to get use to it.
well my dads side of the family is Mexican so they really want me to learn Spanish because i can never understand them. I really want to impress them and i don't live with them, i live with my mom.
So do you have any ideas of how to learn Spanish the fastest?
Any ideas of where to start learning first??
ME AND MY MOM R "arguing" CAN U HELP ME 1st person 2 answer gets the best answer
Hello! I have to write a motivation statement to apply to a college in australia, I'm applying to study Restaurant Management and I have this following paragraph. The problem is that I'm mexican and my vocabulary in englsih is a bit short, so I need help with the spelling and and vocabulary. It would be great if I can have this idea but written awsomely.
Since I was little I used to love food, I used to love the field trips because my mom used to give me for lunch whatever I asked. When I learned to use the VHS, I was around 7 years old, I used to watch and record TV food recepies and I asked my mom to teach me how to cook it. Older, in secondary, I loved organizing school events that matter for my class and all the parties, organize the food, the music and money we needed. Make 40 people party at home a make them feel very comfortable and have the right music and the right food at the right time. My life has been full of all this kind of events, like the one when my middle sister got married last year; she hired five ladies to organized the whole wedding and the music was playing for half an hour and everyone were bored it was a disaster; so, I went to the ladies organized them to start give them the treats we have for the people in the dance floor, I went to a friend I knew she knows the right music and ask her for a list, give it to the DJ, change the music and stand by myself in the dance floor with a song I knew my family loved and start doing the song's popular step and suddenly after a minute 10 people were on the dance floor, after 5 minutes the dance floor were packed. After all that, I spend the night, with the ladies who were suppose to organize the party, organizing them, and I had the time of my life...
Ok im mixed moms Mexican and dad American. I speak a little and understand everything prefect but when i was younger my dad told my mom to stop speaking spanish to us. It was sad
But when i go to Mexico people look at me badly because i dont speak Spanish and im Mexican
What do you think?

I'm going to be a freshman and I want to take a foreign language. The school I'm going to offers Latin, German, Spanish, and French. I really want to take Latin because I'm really interested in the language and culture(i don't care if it's a "dead language"). But my mom wants me to take Spanish because she thinks that if you're mexican you should be able to speak Spanish. Also none of my friends want to take Latin with me, and i don't want to be alone.
What do i do?
My family's mom last name is Miyagi and my moms fullblooded and she even thinks my friends kinda weird...What should I do to teach her a lesson ,look I already tried to speak to her in japanese and she ignored it and everyone still thinks shes japanese. please help me I want my old mexican friend back...
I already speak English and Spanish (Mexican dialect) fluently, and I want to learn another language. I have a lot of Filipino friends, and have been told that filipinos are basically asian mexicans. So, is it a difficult language to learn?
Are there places where I could learn it?
ok, so, in no way did that answer my question. i know they are not mexican. its just a joke, since my mom is mexican, and the girl i was talking to is filipino.
Can you email me recipes I am trying hard to learn I am half mex and half germ. Can someone give me a authentic mexican site or ricipes? you know the kind nana taught mom nd they teach you? I cant make americanized food its gross and my boyfriend is 100% mexican I wanna learn real food!
I am bi-racial: Black and Hispanic. My mom is Hispanic my dad is Black. i grew up speaking spanish and I moved to california and this was a new experience for me beign around black people, and how california is alot faster than texas. would this describe my living and working in diverse settings. i have worked around many races, black, asian, mexican. i think all our cultures makes us unique in our own characteristics and our own way of doing things.
My mom is mexican and I dont speak spanish fluently but I do understand some, But she says that SPaniards speak very nasty & use alot of curse words, is that true?
I told her but Mexican speak alot of bad words too, but she Says to me Spaniards speak especially nasty like it is Normal For them to speak nasty that way.
Is that true? Im confused why my mom is saying this.
I absolutely love both of my astounding parents - mom who is white and father who is one hundred percent mexican. I'd say from a personal standpoint, I look 75% mexican and 25% white but usually, people assume that I am full mexican at first glance. However, I dont speak spanish! While I never really feel embarassed or rebuked at times when people/friends say: "What! no habla espanol?", I really would like to become very fluent at one point time or another, at least before I graduate from UC Irvine. Im 18 now, and I've taken quite a few spanish classes but it just seems that the workload from other classes always tends to outdo the actual learning aspect of spanish - in other words, I usually find myself studying just for the grade itself, rather than learning the language in its completeness (again, due to the workload of other classes). I really would like to study spanish during the summer/winter, when classes aren't so darn harsh. Are there any programs that you guys recommend?
I am 75% mexican although I consider myself full...My mother is half mexican an half white she does not speak spanish (That's the reason why) My dad's family all speaks spanish (I don't live with him) And my grandma (Mom's side) Speaks spanish...But I have a white accent but I can understand some words..My boyfriend speaks Spanish and so does his family. None of them really speak english good except his brother and sisters and himself. I really wanna learn so I can speak with my other family members and his family...Spanish seems very hard for me I feel stupid when I try to speak it. Please help?? I don't have very much money...so what can help me?
My email is Angelcindy96@yahoo.com if you wanna contact me (:
