I was born in Mexico but was raised in the USA. When I saw them acting this way it made me feel sad. If you have the apportunity to learn and it's going to benefit you in a positive way, would you not want to learn? I know that English is first and that's why I've studied hard to learn it. My theory: If they are heard speaking spanish, people will automatically think they are foreing, not American born. I'm proud to be Trilingual. I also took french in HS.

He was born in California, his parents were born in California and his Grand parents were born in California. His parents speak it, but never taught any of their 6 kids!
He is proud of who he is, his parents just didn't teach him Spanish. People should not treat him differently just because he doesn't know Spanish!

I live in the Southwestern part of the USA. And have been told by Spanish speaking people that are natives of our state that they can't understand the Mexicans from Mexico. And same goes for Mexicans saying they don't understand Spanish.

It's true that the Spanish people whos families have 10 or more generations here do have very negitive attitudes about the people from South of the border. If one is called Mexican they are are very insulted.
