They are bilingual, so they will be able to speak to you in English. But for the most part, all they say to you is "Next!", look at your Customs card, look at your passport, and then wave you on your way.
They, if they speak to you at all its a combination of Spanglish and sign language. They are not by any means bi-lingual.
They say Buenos dias, Buenas Tardes os Buenas Noches and su passaporte They then stamp your touris visa and bievenidos a Cancun.
They would have one person on staff that speaks enough to deal with any problems that arise.
Being bi-lingual is not a condition of employment.
This is another example of American arrogance. BI-LINGUAL YOU SEEM TO IMPLY THAT AMERICANS ARE THE ONLY TOURISTS WE GET HERE. WE HAVE TOURISTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. YOU THINK THEY SPEAK MANDARIN , RUSSIAN, J.APONSES.
"FRENCH"
our agents could be deaf and dumb and still process you.
BI-LINGUAL ESPANOL IS THE LANGUAGE OF MEXICO
Salud Gringo
DO YOUR AGENTS AT ALL YOUR AIRPORTS SPEAK SPANISH OR ANY OTHER LANGUAGE?
YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO SPEAK ENGLISH WHEN YOU DONT EVEN HAVE AN OFFICIAL LANGUAGE.
MY COMMENTS ARE NOT DIRECTED AT THE PERSON WHO ASKED THE QUESTION BUT THE F@#$% A@#$%^ WHO ANSWER
It depends on the agent you wind up getting. I have been to Cancun several, maybe 12 times, and most of the time they have been bi-lingual. However, I have never, nor have witnessed anyone having a difficult time with the agents at the airport, so don’t worry you’ll be just fine.
Have fun planning your trip,

It doesn’t matter at all. They will use signs if you don’t get it, maybe some words in english, some in spanish. Don’t worry about that.
most of them speak both languages but when i got off the plane they spoke to everyone in english
Well…..they might speak to you in either language. Be prepared for either one when you get there. Don’t worry…..they will know English and you will be fine. Most of the time….they speak English. They might welcome you in Spanish or something like that. There is really not much to be said in customs. They check your documents and that is about it. Chill……you will have no problems. Just enjoy Cancun….dont worry about anything but fun.
