What kind of affectionate names do some Mexican parents give their young children?

I am asking because I am writing a short story and in one part of it, this Mexican mother is soothing her child and is being sweet to him and speaking to him in Spanish.

Please, MATURE answers preferred that happen to deal with the question! Thank you!

  1. My parents and uncles/aunts call me mija (it’s basically mi (my) and hija (daughter) put together). Mija can mean daughter or sweetie or honey….it depends on the situation.

    Mija = for girl
    Mijo = for boy.

    Other nicknames can be mi reina (my queen), mi rey (my king), preciosa/o (precious), mi vida (my life), corazon (heart), etc.
